The house is equipped with a fully kosher kitchen.

The kitchen is primarily dairy (milchik/ halavi) - that means pots, pans, plates, cutlery, cups oven, dishwasher, countertops, sink, microwave, and warming tray (plata). If you want to eat or cook meat (fleishik/ basari), here's what you can do:

  • Plates, cutlery, cups - use disposable ones.
  • Oven - double wrap your food in tin foil.
  • Microwave - use the meat turntable and microwave food cover.
  • Warming tray - cover with two layers of tin foil.
  • Surfaces/ tables - don't put meat directly on surfaces, use meat placemats and coasters.

All of these materials are provided (e.g. tin foil, disposables), but if you can't find something, just contact us and we'll sort if for you!

Shabbat
The house is also fully Shabbat-friendly. We provide tealights, matches, time-switches, a Shabbat lamp, warming tray (plata), hot-water urn. The fridge light can be disabled by sticking down the switch inside the door with the provided tape. There is a sensor light at the front door that can be turned off with via the labelled switch just inside the front door to the left. There is no eiruv in Edinburgh, so you can use the keylock to store your key when you go out (and the front gate is opened by a non-electrical push-button lock).
